Nurse Betty BScN (cand): Progress Report

Nurse Betty BScN (cand)

I am a 36 year old mother of 2. I entered university in 2005 for the BScN program but had no idea what a roller coaster ride it would be. My other interests are boating, cottaging, gardening, sitting, doing nothing, vegging and of course hard core belly button contemplating.

Progress Report

It is stinking hot here. Now all of you who are in Southern hemisphere states don't call me a wimp, just remember I am a Canadian girl through and through, so my blood just doesn't adapt to 3 days in a row of 33 degree heat. It has been very difficult to concentrate on the reading that I have been doing for my essays. The progress is good however I am pleased to say. While the essay outline is long winded, it is done and the teacher said it is okay that they are over a page, he'll cut me some slack. The gender inequality essay is coming along rather swimingly I may say. Stay tuned for excerpts.

So today is also day two of my attempt to rid my body of the white powder poison...sugar. I have been making a concerted effort to not consciously consume things like cookies, granola bars and sugar in my tea. It is not going well, I have come to the conclusion that eating little cookies for me is the same as someone smoking. It is an oral fixation thing. I read an article though that said that after a week or so of no sugar your body will stop craving it. I sure hope so because I was howling at the moon last night while The Husband ate ice cream. Don't you just love supportive spouses who know that you are trying to stick to a regime and goes out and buys two tubs of ice cream just because they were on sale.

Hope you all are keeping cool in this heat and cottage season can't come soon enough. It is amazing how tolerant of the heat I am when I am sitting on the dock compared to sitting in my basement because it is easily 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. Take care, and thanks for reading.

Don't worry, there are not too many Americans know what 33 degree heat is. We never learned celcius. And, for the most part, those of us in the southern US have air-conditioning. So we are really total heat wimps too.
